Centenary Day celebrations: The schedule for Monday, March 18th
Valencia CF's Centenary Day takes place on March 18th, and all fans are invited to celebrate the occasion on the streets of the city in a special bank holiday event.
March behind the Centenary flag
The day will begin at Mestalla, where Valencianistas will convene at 9:15am in the square outside the stadium. Together, from 9:45am, they will march to the birthplace of the club: The location where 'Bar Torino' previously stood. Fans are invited to wear their Valencia CF shirts, carry flags and scarves, and join in the walk behind the Centenary flag. The march is a throuwback to a previous journey through the city in 1924 behind the orginal flag -now on display at Mestalla having been restored.
Current players, legends and descendents of the founders gathering
From 10:30am, the march will end at Valencia's emblematic Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where Bar Torino was located 100 years ago. A reading of the club's Constitutional Act will be made by descendents of the founders, and current president Anil Murthy will also address those present. Alongside Valencia CF legends, the 2018/19 squad will also be present as a new commemorative plaque is unveiled.
An historic 'mascletà'
Following an official reception for VCF institutional representatives and the squad in the City Hall by municipal authorities, the celebrations will continue in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 2pm. The traditional setting off of 'mascletà' firecrackers will be held, with special background music accompanying the noise.
Club directors, descendents of the founders and former players will then head to the Plaza de la Virgen for a floral offering to the Patroness of Valencia, an annual event in which Valencia CF pay homage and ask for success.
Falla and paella at Mestalla
Back outside Mestalla, from 3:15pm, a giant paella will be cooked by the Agrupació de Penyes Valencianistes supporters group association, and at night there will be the lighting of the commemorative 'falla' to mark the event.
It will be a packed schedule for what is set to be one of the greatest days in Valencia CF's illustrious history.
